Author of songs such as Afrika, .For the night of “Reencontros”, Mel Matsinhe will share the stage with Mozambican guitarist Elcides Carlos and the writer, Mozambican poet Eduardo Quive, thus sharing the mixed sound that crosses different cultures in Mozambique. According to the pianist, the night will also bring sounds that with influence of Cuban rhythms, as it was in Cuba that Mel Matsinhe trained and fell in love with classical piano, during his training in Havana. In addition to music, Mel Matsinhe is also a writer and Pan-Africanist musical pedagogue with more than 20 years in the sector . Founder and current General Director of the Xiluva School of Arts, Mel Matsinhe is also Director of the Njingiritana Children’s Festival. Pianist and singer, Mel Matsinhe is an advocate for the search for indigenous knowledge as a basis for the development of the artistic and creative sector in Mozambique , which is why it promotes the study of African music teaching methodologies at the Xiluva School of Arts. This work earned her the title of one of the 100 most influential women in the PALOP in 2022.Mel Matsinhe has participated in renowned international festivals both as a performer and panelist: Mali, Zanzibar, Côte d’Ivoire, United States of America and Norway.Currently , Mel Matsinhe is President of the Mozambican Federation of Cultural and Creative Industries, where he focuses on strengthening the sector.
