Meeting in its XXI Ordinary Session of the Plenary, between the 3rd and 5th of April, the Superior Council of the Judiciary of the Public Ministry decided, among others, to apply the sanction of expulsion of  three Justice Officers and  Assistant Justice Officers  with the categories of clerk of  district law and district judicial clerk, from the staff of the Provincial Public Prosecutor’s Offices in Nampula and Manica, for the use of their functions for their own benefit and to the detriment of third parties, by requesting and receiving monetary amounts to facilitate the release of an arrested defendant and the archiving of the case under investigation. In a note sent to “O País”, the body also decided to apply the sanction of dismissal to five court officials and assistants of bailiffs with the categories of law clerk’s assistant and district judicial clerks, of the staff of the Provincial Public Prosecutor’s Offices in  Zambézia, Manica, Sofala, and of the Provincial Anti-Corruption Office of Maputo, for the use of their functions for their own benefit and to the detriment of third parties, by receiving and appropriating monetary values ​​for not sending accused cases to the Judicial Court for trial and for the removal of counterfeit notes seized and attached to a case under investigation. Sanctions, states the Superior Council of the Judiciary of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, result from the violation of professional duties and principles, namely, zeal, legality, dignity, loyalty and honesty. As there were signs of the commission of a criminal offense, the CSMMP ordered the extraction of copies and sending them to the bodies of the Public Ministry, for the establishment of the relevant criminal proceedings.
