  • THP Mozambique seeks to hire a Senior Finance Officer to lead the finance department and support the financial activities of the organization. The Senior Finance Officer reports to the Country Director in Mozambique and works in close collaboration with the Global Finance team and the senior management team of Mozambique. The position supervises the Finance Officer, and is based in Maputo City, with a gross monthly salary range between 107,275mt to 184,900mt
Duties
  • Review, update and maintain an approved accounting system that ensures proper internal controls and adequate program financial information to support THP’s operations and financial administration for THP-Mozambique
  • Sign off all financial receipts, statements, cash advances, reconciliation, statements, reimbursements, salaries and allowances prepared by the Finance officer
  • Ensure that financial reporting and payroll record are performed timely and in compliance with local regulation and THP Global guidelines
  • Is responsible for budget and cost allocation to grants, monitor budget utilization/ review grant budget for new proposal
  • Ensure that monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports are prepared and submitted to all concerned bodies including donors and government office
  • In collaboration with the Country Director, develop and manage systems of financial planning, financial management, budget and budgetary control in line with The Hunger Project Mozambique Policies and provides a basis of estimating funding support needed for subsequent quarter operations
  • In collaboration with the Administrative Secretary, review and monitor charges for common services and cost recovery taking into account cost effectiveness and gets involved in the negotiations as required
  • Provide technical advice to the Country Director and the management team on the financial strategic issues of the entity
  • Conduct implementation and application for THP-Mozambique of THP’s global Financial Policies under the Global CFO’s responsibility
  • Identify and alert when Donor or Local Compliance conflict with such Global Financial Policy
  • Ensures proper maintenance of THP Financial records, safekeeping, and handling of cash and ensures that cash and bank transactions are properly recorded
  • Maintains staff updated payroll and ensures that the organization conforms to all the necessary statutory requirements including deductions and submitting to the relevant authorities of all legal documentation
  • Counter signs checks with other signatories
  • Advise the Country Director and Global office immediately on any discrepancies in the program accounts, financial management or misuse of THP assets once observed
  • In collaboration with the Finance Officer, conduct all banking transactions and secure the necessary statements and other documentation to verify the availability of funds and check monthly reconciliations as required
  • Spearhead and facilitate THP external and internal audit work process
  • Directly supervises the Administrative Secretary and the Finance Officer and reports to the Country Director on their output
  • Oversees the entire HR and Administration Sections of THP-Moz and ensures proper functioning of the same
    Perform any other duties as assigned by the Country Director or by the Global CFO
Requisites
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Finance, Administration or relevant field
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Finance and Administration
  • Experience working in an NGO or Donor Based institution
  • Experience in managing multiple funding programs
  • Experience in managerial role is ideal
  • Strong skills in English
  • Strong skills in MS office and other tools Finance relevant tools like primavera
  • Requirements:
  • Remus with at least three references

  • Copy of the degree
