Mozambique will introduce, from next June, a vaccine to combat malaria in the country. In the first phase, this vaccine will be applied on a pilot basis to children under five years of age in provinces of Nampula and Zambézia, as they are considered to be the ones that report the most cases of malaria. The aforementioned vaccine will be acquired within the framework of the global alliance for vaccines, where the Mozambican government will participate in its acquisition. Information was released this Thursday, at city ​​of Matola, Maputo Province, by the Minister of Health, during the central ceremonies of the world day to combat malaria. Armindo Tiago highlighted that the introduction of this vaccine appears as a way of accelerating the levels of reduction in malaria cases that annually are diagnosed in the country.On the other hand, Armindo Tiago calls for the correct use of mosquito nets, one of the main measures for preventing malaria.This year, World Malaria Day is celebrated under the motto: Promote access to health services, gender equity and human rights to end malaria.
