The official launch of the Mozal Awards will take place on April 30th (Tuesday), at 4:30 pm, at the Kulungwana gallery, at the Central Railway Station of Mozambique, downtown Maputo. The PMAC awards gala will take place next November, and will maintain the usual categories, namely: Visual Arts, Cinema and Audiovisuals, Photography, Theatre, Dance, Music, Fashion Design and Clothing. For this edition, the competition aims to expand the level of publicity and, consequently, solidify the participation of artists from all over the country, reinforcing the dissemination of the regulations and direct interaction with potential candidates for the Awards in different areas. The central focus of these awards is part of Mozal’s social responsibility and the purposes of the Kulungwana Association, by rewarding the best young artist in each of the seven (7) categories, annually. As in the last edition, competitors will be able to access the General Regulations and the Specific Regulations (by category) through Kulungwana’s social networks and virtual platforms, which govern the submission of proposals and launch the criteria for evaluating applications. Kulungwana – and Mozal, through annual applications, believe that the Awards will be able to contribute to the mapping of new national artists that are still unknown and to bring together, over time, a sampling of the best works and young Mozambican talents, through this collection being able to open space for new opportunities for nominees and winners. Since its creation in 2018, the Mozal Arts and Culture Awards have managed to create an environment of great expectation in the world of arts, which has driven a new dynamism and stimulation of competition within each category , both factors that promote cultural growth and the development of quality, skills and professionalization in artistic areas.
