The Southern African Development Community (SADC) stands for collective action to fight terrorism. The position was expressed by the President of the Republic and in SADC Exercise, Filipe Nyusi at the end of the extraordinary summits of the Defense and Security Policy body and the SADC Double troika, held this Thursday in Maputo. Filipe Nyusi underlined that the regional bloc consolidated its cohesion and addressed the best forms of cooperation to overcome the security challenges arising from terrorism and violent extremism in Cabo Delgado. “The Summit was, above all, yet another occasion for us to firmly reiterate that we reject subversive acts in our region either by criminals or groups associated with global terrorism. We recognize the importance of collective action to overcome this evil, hence the need to make operational the force in a state of alert as a framework that can cover the bilateral interventions according to circumstantial comparative advantages and concrete objectives that one wishes to reach”, he said. For the Mozambican statesman and Acting President of SADC, Filipe Nyusi, the regional bloc has established partnerships to restore peace and strengthen political and economic stability, avoiding the destruction of infrastructure.
