SEVENTY and eight people lost their lives, victims of 66 road accidents that occurred, in the first nine months of this year, in the province of Inhambane. In addition to fatalities, the accidents caused more than 200 injuries, 78 of which serious, 123 minor and 47 major material damages. Excessive speed and poor pedestrian crossing are identified as the main causes of accidents, the majority of which occurred on National Road Number 1 (EN1). In this period there were 66 accidents, a reduction of two accidents, when compared to the same period of the year in which sixty-eight were recorded.
