More than 16 thousand students benefit from decent classrooms in Sofala. the passage of  bad weather.In  March 2019, after the passage of cyclone Idai, which left a trail of destruction in the city of Beira and caused the death of hundreds of people, the recovery mechanism for Mozambique was established. The project was about helping to recover and build, in a resilient way, in rural areas and affected areas. As a result of this initiative, eight new schools were built and another ten rehabilitated. This fact contributed to more than 16 thousand students studying in decent classrooms, such as the Agostinho Neto Primary School. The official ceremony for the collective handover of infrastructures took place this Wednesday, in the city of Beira, to satisfaction of the main beneficiaries, who studied in distant schools. Mozambique’s recovery mechanism aims, above all, to improve the living conditions of communities affected by Idai and is being implemented by GREPOC. It is important to note that, within the scope of the program, around 173 thousand people already have access to seven new markets, six health centers and more than a thousand houses built and rehabilitated. The collective delivery ceremony of the infrastructures was guided by the Minister of Public Works, Carlos Mesquita, who indicated that schools now offer a legitimate and welcoming environment that symbolizes resilience and hope. The program has a budget of 72.2 million dollars, supported by a coalition of donors from European, Asian and American countries. Source:O País
