A comissão eleitoral do Malawi declarou Lazarus Chakwera, vencedor das eleições presidenciais realizadas na passada terça-feira.
Chakwera foi declarado presidente do Malawi com dois milhões seiscentos e quatro mil e quarenta e três votos.
Peter Kuwani teve trinta e dois mil quatrocentos e cinquenta e seis votos e Arthur Peter Mutharika que concorria pela coligação DPP-UDF obteve um milhão setecentos e cinquenta e um mil, oitocentos e setenta e sete votos de acordo com a comunicação oficial do presidente da comissão eleitoral do Malawi, Chifundo Kachale.
