  • Right To Play is implementing a project on Sustainable Livelihoods Development Program (SLDP), that aims at contributing to the improvement of the socioeconomic conditions of the communities in the Gorongosa Park’s buffer zone, through the implementation of interventions that contribute to the increase of agricultural production, improvement of nutrition index, supply of quality water and basic sanitation of the environment , as well as sexual and reproductive health promotion initiatives, with greater focus on women and young people. Right To Play is looking to recruit four (4) Capacity Building Officers, to support implementation of the Sustainable Livelihoods and Development Program, in partnership with Gorongosa Relief Park (GRP), Resilience and Government entities in Sofala provinces, covering six districts in communities around Gorongosa National Park’s buffer zone namely, Gorongosa, Dondo, Cheringoma, Nhamatanda, Muanza and Maringue

  • The Capacity Building Officer reports to the Project Manager and is responsible for guaranteeing quality implementation of training and capacity building programs in the Sustainable Livelihood Development (SLD) Program. The incumbent supports the development and implementation of organization’s capacity building resources and training program in the SLD Program, and provides technical support, coaching and guidance to the Gorongosa Restoration Project (GRP) staff and their partners using Right To Play’s Gender Responsive Play Based Learning Approaches. He/she is also responsible for monitoring the project for quality of delivery and effectiveness. Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Capacity Building Officer will be responsible for strengthening the capacities of GRP staff and government officers on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and advocacy mechanisms
  • Indirect Advisory Responsibilites: The incumbent provides advice to the Project Manager, the local implementing partners, and stakeholders with regards to training and RTP training materials
Duties
  • In accordance with Right To Play (RTP) approved policies and procedures, the incumbent is responsible for the following
Implement Project Training Strategy – 40%
  • Ensure fidelity in the implementation of the training strategy on SRHR, WASH and Nutrition Communication for Behaviour Change Approaches, including Gender as crosscutting for Play Based approaches
  • Ensures modules, training manuals and other resources are culturally appropriate for audiences in the project location
  • Support to GRP staff in the rollout of social behavior change communication strategy (SBCCS)
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to GRP staff and key partners during community level activities implementation
  • Assesses the needs and areas of growth within the Project implementing partners and run refresher and skills development workshops
  • As a member of the project training team, contributes to the design, development, supervision, evaluation, and assessment of training workshops
  • Manages the logistical arrangements for training workshops and events
Planning and project implementation – 30%
  • Ensure adequate support to guarantee work plan and objectives are effectively established, and planned results are timely delivered through technical support to the GRP and in coordination with Resilience Partners
  • Supports the Project Manager on Annual Operational Planning, budgeting and lead the implementation of the SLD program activities at district level
  • Coordinates with GRP and district government Focal points on annual planning and ensure alignment of RTP Annual work plan with that of the partners for effective activity implementation and reporting
Coordination with government sectors 10%
  • Represents RTP at District/Province level Forums, conferences, and meetings to advocate for the use of sport for development/play based learning for promotion of nutrition and SRHR
  • Participate in the district monitoring and reflection meetings/events to assess the quality delivery of the expected results
Monitoring, Compliance, and reporting – 15%
  • Ensure up-to-dated project information sharing with the project manager and reports preparation for sharing with the GRP and relevant stakeholders
  • Support proper data collection and recording in the SLDP project locations and support the compilation and generation of quality data reports on a regular and timely manner
  • In line with the communication strategies of the consortium/partnership, ensure visibility of the program at field level
  • Support the RTP Program Manager to conduct periodic analysis of progress of the project, and document best practices, success stories and lessons learnt
  • Support GRP at district level to establish networks with stakeholders to share learning and experiences of project
  • Performs other duties as assigned. – 5%
Requisites
  • The incumbent is expected to set his/her own work plan in line with overall project plan. The incumbent is also expected to support the partner’s Trainers in developing their activity plans
  • Minimum Qualifications (Must Have):
  • Bachelor’s degree in areas related to social studies, Public Health, Health promotion, Food and Nutrition Sciences, or other related areas
  • Minimum of three (3) years of working experience in areas related to SRHR, Nutrition and WASH programming in low-income communities
  • Proven experience as trainer and leading on capacity building activities
  • Experience on implementing projects on Social Behaviour Communication Change, influencing and advocacy
  • Experience in working with youth and women is crucial
  • Attention to detail and ability to plan and implement work plan with minimum supervision
  • Good networking and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to comply efficiently with tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Good presentation skills
  • Good professional verbal and writing skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team in culturally diverse professional staff
  • Excellent supervisory and team building skills
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet
  • Understanding of different training techniques
  • Understanding the concept of Sport for Development
  • Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese
  • Speaking local languages from Central region (local languages from Manica & Sofala) is an advantage
  • Previous experience working in I/NGO
  • Experience in the use of Play Based Methodologies
  • Knowledge of local languages in Sofala province

  • Continuous Improvement: The incumbent is expected to improve training materials and develop new ideas/ ways of training. In addition, he/she is expected to help the implementation partners’ Trainers to improve their facilitation skills
